Sustainability requirements: what customers and CSRD actually ask

CSRD is EU rules for large-company sustainability reporting. Most SMEs feel it because the customer needs your data.

01

Why a small company suddenly gets questionnaires

Large companies must document claims. They rarely make everything themselves. So they ask the furniture plant, the textile producer and the packaging supplier.

The request feels like law. It is often a customer requirement that comes from the law.

02

What you typically need to answer

You are rarely asked for a novel. You are asked for facts you can stand behind, and to find them again.

  • CO2 or climate impact for the product
  • Materials, recycled share and origin
  • Suppliers and traceability
  • Documentation that does not only live in an email
03

How LCAB helps

LCAB gives SMEs a place to gather the answer: product data, documentation and an overview you can share.

We do not claim you are CSRD compliant. We help you answer when the requirement moves down the chain.

04

How to answer a customer requirement

  1. 01

Read what the customer actually asks. It is often product, materials and CO2, not a full group report.

  2. 02

Find the data you have, and note what you lack. Do not guess.

  3. 03

Put the answer in LCAB so the next request does not start from zero.

  4. 04

Share an overview, and offer to expand it when the customer asks for more.

Common questions

Does CSRD apply directly to SMEs?

CSRD mainly covers large companies. SMEs feel it when customers in the chain need your documentation.

Is a Word file enough?

It can be enough the first time. Next time a new buyer asks. A shared place with product data saves you from writing the same answer again.

What if we lack data?

Say so honestly, and show what you have. LCAB is built to mark gaps, so you can ask suppliers for the right things.

06

Want documentation in one place?

LCAB is a guided platform for companies without an ESG team. Start with the data you already have.
