What is the difference between LCAB and LCAbyg?

The names look alike. They do not solve the same job. LCAB is for products. LCAbyg is for whole buildings.

01

LCAB: the product

LCAB is a guided platform for product documentation and product LCA. It is built for SMEs, sole traders and product teams without an ESG department.

You gather materials, bill of materials (BOM), suppliers, CO2 and documentation, and can prepare a digital product passport (DPP). LCAB is not building LCA. LCAB does not certify you.

02

LCAbyg: the building

LCAbyg is a tool for building LCA. It is used when the whole building must be documented, typically under the Danish Building Regulations.

If the job is the house, the extension or the apartment block, LCAbyg is the right place. LCAB does not replace LCAbyg.

Common questions

What is the difference between LCAB and LCAbyg?

LCAB is product documentation and product LCA for companies that make or sell a product. LCAbyg is building LCA for the Danish Building Regulations and the whole building. Many people search the wrong one because the names look alike.

We make furniture, electronics or other products. Where should we go?

To LCAB. Start with the bill of materials (BOM), materials and what you already have in Excel. You get a screening draft with your data, which you can take to third-party verification and approval. The draft is the documentation basis a verifier uses, not the verified EPD itself.

We need to document a building for the Building Regulations. Is LCAB enough?

No. That is a building LCA. Use LCAbyg. LCAB covers the product you sell, not the whole building.

Want documentation in one place?

LCAB is a guided platform for companies without an ESG team. Start with the data you already have.
